The dismantling of the building started in the summer months of 2024. At that time, workers removed unique decorative elements that are planned to be used in the interior of the new structure.
A residential complex will be built on the freed-up territory. According to authorities, its architecture will replicate the appearance of the historical Palace of Culture. The project provides for the preservation of the main and side facades, as well as the interior decoration of the hall and entrance zone.
The load-bearing walls, structures, and foundation masonry had to be demolished due to their emergency condition. In the near future, it is planned to complete the dismantling of these elements.
Initially, the completion of work was scheduled for 2026, but then the deadlines were moved to the end of 2028. After the removal of emergency structures, the company «Specialized Developer DK» will begin construction.
The Palace of Culture building stood abandoned for almost two decades. Since 2008, it has not been used, windows were boarded up, and ceilings partially collapsed.
