In a large village in the Leninsky District of Volgograd Oblast, water and heating suddenly disappeared during a severe frost. The day before, in Zaplavnoye, two pumps burned out, halting the boiler house operation. Residents are forced to buy water in stores and warm themselves with heaters.
As a source from the V1.RU editorial office reported, the utility accident in Zaplavnoye occurred yesterday, January 24. The consequences are still being addressed.
«There is the village of Zaplavnoye, where more than three thousand people live. Yesterday, a water supply pump burned out. At the Volzhskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, they raised the water discharge level. The pump was pumping water, and because the water level rose, slush and broken ice started flowing. Ice got into the pipe, and the pump burned out. They installed a second pump, it worked for a while, then it also burned out,» the interlocutor said. «The pump burned out, water supply stopped, pressure dropped at the boiler house. They managed to start the boiler house somehow. But while the boiler house wasn«t working, it started getting colder. People began draining water from radiators to make it warmer. This morning, the boiler house stopped again because there isn»t enough water in the system.»
The information about the heating and water supply cutoff was confirmed by the administration of the Leninsky District as well. Employees noted: the situation is tough but under control. Workers are on site, water delivery is organized, and water is sold in sufficient quantities in stores. They promise that within the day, the amenities of civilization should return to the villagers.
Meanwhile, in Volgograd, residents of houses on Kostycheva Street in the Verkhnezarechensky settlement have been without hot water since yesterday. According to them, when they complain to dispatch services, they are told that nothing can be done to help. In «Concessions,» they only briefly report: repair work on the water supply will be carried out in the near future, without specifying concrete deadlines.
