The daughter and mother of Alexander Plekhanov, a shock trooper who died in Ukraine during the special military operation, cannot secure multimillion payments in Volgograd. The issue lies in the cause of the soldier«s death. According to his relatives, the death certificate states: Alexander died from acute poisoning by an unknown substance. However, how it happened and what the substance was is not specified in the documents.
Recall that Alexander Plekhanov, a native of Pallasovka, decided to sign a contract in July 2024 and went to the zone of the special military operation, where he served as a shock trooper. However, a year later, in July 2025, the man died. In August, he was bid farewell with full military honors in Pallasovka. Since then, his ex-wife has been seeking the due payments for their underage daughter. However, according to the woman, at the Lensk military commissariat, she was told that first they couldn«t find the soldier»s personal file, and then bureaucratic delays with other documents began.
«Our daughter should receive a survivor»s pension. It lasts until she«s 18. If there»s a certificate from her place of study, it can be extended until she«s 23. We provided everything, and we even declined the social pension because the military pension is several times larger. But at the Lensk military commissariat, we encountered some bureaucracy. One woman sits in the office with a pile of folders, everything on paper. The child will soon turn 18. Who will compensate us for this lost time? It»s some dark story that gives no peace.«
V1.RU journalists contacted the military commissariat of the Leninsky and Sredneakhtubinsky districts of Volgograd Region. The staff assured that the pension for the deceased«s daughter will be accrued starting in early March, but there may be problems with the payments.
«They had a notification from the unit. His death is not related to military service. Because of this, only 40% of the pension is due for his daughter, and for lump-sum payments — only insurance. From our side, we sent the documents to the military unit, but they were returned to us from there. When we received them, we were very surprised why they returned the documents. We got in touch with the unit and sent the documents again. It wasn»t quick at all,« they say at the military commissariat. »For the pension, we also sent all documents to Volgograd. They are working on the accruals, and the process is at the final stage. The pension will be minimal, 40%, that«s about 17,000 rubles (approximately $170 at current rates). And the insurance — about three million rubles (approximately $30,000 at current rates), which will be divided between the daughter and the mother of the deceased.»«
Meanwhile, according to the ex-wife of the deceased, initially at the military commissariat she filled out three applications for three payments, but so far she cannot secure any of them.
«At the Lensk military commissariat, they said we are entitled to three payments, including presidential ones. They didn»t name the total amount. But the mother of the deceased went to the administration in Pallasovka, and she was refused. They said he«s not entitled to such a payment because of such a death,» the woman says. «When I went to Lensk, I asked how the case is progressing. The woman handling these issues said our documents were returned from Volgograd. I asked what the reason for the refusal is. Unknown. Every time they give me some new information. I bring all the documents, they tell me these aren»t enough, more are needed. Because of this, nothing is being processed. This attitude is as if I came to a store for bread, not to a military commissariat. Why is this dragging on so long?«»
Moreover, according to the ex-spouse, aside from the payments, they are trying to obtain information about the true cause of their loved one«s death.
«His mother wrote two letters to the president and appeals to the prosecutor»s office. She received a response that the case is under consideration. To her, this poisoning situation seems abnormal because different certificates came. One says he died in one place, another certificate — in another place. The cause is the same, but the places don«t match. What he was sent with — is also unclear. One document says he died in a hospital, another — in some apartment. His mother called the military unit. There, they rudely answered that they don»t have the information.«»
V1.RU is monitoring the development of the situation.
Earlier we wrote about a similar situation faced by Ernest Khachaturov. The man lost his eldest son, who died in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine. Along with the body of the 27-year-old man, his father was brought his personal belongings — a pectoral cross and a wedding ring. The man had no doubts that his son was in the coffin until the morgue gave him the medical death certificate with the wrong year of his son«s birth. But what shocked the father was something else. The document states: the son did not die during a combat mission, but died from an illness. The father has refused to bury his son for over a year until he learns the true cause of his death. A lawyer confirmed: if a serviceman died in the zone of the special military operation from a wound, his relatives are entitled to approximately 15 million rubles (around $150,000 at current rates). But if the soldier died from an illness, relatives can only count on presidential payments.
