Court Closes Rat-Infested Shashlik Stand in Samara for 45 Days

The court closed for 45 days that very shashlik stand in the Industrialny district where police recorded a video of a rat on the meat. The head of the regional Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), Svetlana Arkhipova, spoke about how the inspection went and what will happen next with the kiosk on the air of GTRK-Samara.
Recall that the story became public after a raid by law enforcement. They were checking migrants at one of the trading spots. A shocking moment was caught on camera: a rat was running over the meat prepared for shashlik.
«I just walked in, and a rat like this is running over the meat,» said one of the policemen in the video.
After that, the information reached Rospotrebnadzor. As Svetlana Arkhipova explained, the agency, together with the prosecutor«s office, organized an unscheduled inspection.
«Facts of violation of mandatory requirements of sanitary legislation were established and documented. These include the presence of rodents and non-compliance with the flow process during preparation,» the head of the agency stated in the television broadcast.
The inspection materials were transferred to the court. It decided on an administrative suspension of the kiosk«s activities for 45 days. According to Arkhipova, the decision was made on 22 January.
«When these 45 days expire, Rospotrebnadzor will conduct another inspection. Specialists will see if the kiosk owner has corrected all violations — whether he has eliminated the rodents and cleaned up. And only after that will they decide whether he can reopen,» noted Svetlana Arkhipova.
In parallel, the police are dealing with the illegal migrants found during that same raid. Out of over a hundred checked, five were detained. Some tried to run away but were caught. Now the issue of holding their employers accountable, who illegally employed the foreigners, is being decided.
