An emergency situation has developed in the cottage village of Tsaritsyn near Volgograd due to a prolonged power outage that has now lasted over 12 hours. The accident occurred on the evening of January 26, and by the morning of January 27, the air temperature dropped to -23°C (-9.4°F). In residential houses, according to residents, the temperature is only +5°C (41°F).

«People are freezing in their homes,» write locals. «In the Svyazist gardening association, the power is out, and everyone has electric heating. We have called everywhere—no result.» «It»s only +5 in the house, people are freezing, nothing is being done. Help,« local residents appeal for help.

The company Rosseti Yug (Russian Grids South) clarified that a local technical failure occurred on the grids of an adjacent grid organization. The village«s power supply is provided through the grids of Oboronenergo, which is founded by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The company confirmed the emergency shutdown but could not provide a restoration timeframe because the damage on the line has not yet been located.
