Cottage settlement near Volgograd freezes in defense network outage

The cottage settlement lacks both electricity and heating amid subzero temperatures.
Residents of the Tsaritsyn cottage settlement in Volgograd are forced to survive in extreme conditions. With temperatures at -20°C (-4°F), electricity has been cut off in homes, and since it is needed to power the boilers, heating has also been lost.
Residents of Tsaritsyn reported problems with the settlement«s power supply on the evening of January 26.
«People are freezing in their homes,» write the locals. «In the Svyazist gardening partnership (SNT), the power was cut off, and everyone has electric heating. We called everywhere — with no result.»
On the morning of January 27, when the air temperature in Volgograd dropped to -23°C (-9°F), the power supply situation had not changed, and people were brought to the brink of survival.
«In the house it»s only +5°C (41°F), people are freezing, nothing is being done. Help,« plead the residents of Tsaritsyn.
The company Rosseti Yug clarified that a local technical failure occurred on the networks of a third-party grid organization, adding that after it is fixed, consumers will be reconnected to the power supply.
It is known that electricity to the settlement is supplied through the networks of Oboronenergo, a company founded by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Oboronenergo also confirmed an emergency shutdown. The timeframe for repairs is not given even approximately.
«We have one emergency shutdown from the adjacent grid organization,» reported the control dispatch center of the company. «They are inspecting the line but cannot find the damage. Unfortunately, we cannot provide an estimate for the repair time.»
