Complex near Chkalov Airport rises in cost to 41 billion rubles

The estimated cost for constructing a multifunctional congress hall with a hotel near Chkalov Airport in Nizhny Novgorod has reached 41.2 billion rubles (approximately $412 million at current rates). A year earlier, the estimate was 18 billion rubles (about $180 million).
The Government of Nizhny Novgorod Region has included the project in the list for concluding a concession agreement in 2026, with the relevant information published on its official website.
The complex will include an expo center, a congress center, and service infrastructure. The built-up area will exceed 100,000 square meters.
The facility is intended to be built on the eastern side of the airport under concession terms.
The preliminary construction period is set at 3.5 years. Authorities plan to conclude an agreement with an investor this year.
