Commemorating the Siege: Events at Piskaryovskoye Cemetery

On the morning of January 27, hundreds of St. Petersburg residents gathered at Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery to honor the memory of those who died during the Siege of Leningrad.
The solemn ceremony began at 11:00. The laying of flowers was attended by both officials and military personnel, as well as ordinary citizens.
On this day, flowers were also laid at Serafimovskoye Cemetery, at the Monument to the Heroic Defenders of Leningrad, and at other memorial sites associated with the burials of Soviet soldiers.
Earlier in the morning, at 14 Nevsky Prospect, a solemn mourning meeting was held at the memorial plaque «To the Heroism and Courage of Leningraders».
In the evening at 21:00 near the Peter and Paul Fortress, a fireworks salute is planned, consisting of 30 volleys from 12 D-44 guns and 12 fireworks installations.
The Rostral Columns will be illuminated from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 19:00 to 22:00.
Moreover, on January 27 and 28, the Palace Bridge, Trinity Bridge, and Betancourt Bridge received special lighting in the colors of the Leningrad Victory ribbon.
As part of the memorial events, lectures, tours, performances, concerts, and film screenings dedicated to the history of Leningrad«s liberation are taking place.
