Residents of the Devichya Sopka microdistrict in Chita have lived without any street lighting for 13 years. They complain about dark and unsafe roads, and children go to school with flashlights. This was reported on February 5 by the Telegram channel of the regional branch of the People«s Front.
About 1,500 people live in the microdistrict. Residents have appealed for help via the president«s direct line.
The People«s Front sent an inquiry to the city administration. The response stated that the electric lighting line from house No. 39 to house No. 58 was installed in December 2025 under a concession agreement for modernizing outdoor lighting. The lighting will be fully operational by April 2026 after commissioning work and the line being registered as municipal property.
However, the road section from Fadeyev Avenue to house No. 39 remains unlit: a 110 kV high-voltage line runs there, and according to regulations, installing a lighting line on this section is impossible due to the safety zone. The People«s Front will study what lighting options can be implemented there.
