Chelyabinsk woman takes DNA test over swap suspicions

A resident of Chelyabinsk, Viktoria Andreyeva, at age 21, decided to take a DNA test to check if she had been swapped at the maternity hospital. Her story became the plot for the TV show «DNA» on the NTV channel.

«From the earliest conscious age, I»ve been told that I don«t look like my mom at all,» Viktoria said during filming. «There»s a fundamental difference between me and my mom. My mom is very fair, with blue eyes. Doubts arose because of constant questions.«

The girl was born at the maternity hospital of City Clinical Hospital No. 6 and from childhood differed from her mother: Viktoria is a dark-eyed brunette, while her mother Elena is a blonde with blue eyes.

«There are thoughts that perhaps there was a swap,» the girl shared. «Because I»ve already re-examined photos, I«ve already stared. Naturally, we discussed this with the family. I asked who sees what resemblance. It»s not like everyone says I don«t look like anyone. Some think I have some features, but I don»t see them at all.«
Viktoria«s mother, Elena Andreyeva, did not doubt the relationship. She explained that the girl»s father has Armenian roots, which explains the daughter«s dark skin and hair. Although the idea of a DNA test initially surprised the family, in the end, Viktoria was supported.
«I think it happened somewhere in the area of the children»s rooms, where they bathe and swaddle the babies,« the mother shared her guess about a possible swap. »When they brought her to me for feeding, we weren«t allowed to unwrap the babies, to look at their hands and feet. We only fed them, and they took the babies away from us.»
However, the genetic test showed a 99.9% probability of relationship between Viktoria and Elena, which disproved the version of a swap.
This is not the first case where residents of the Chelyabinsk region participate in such a show. A year ago, the program told the story of a guy from the region who doubted paternity, but the test also confirmed the family connection.
