The prosecutor«s office of the Kurgan region has approved the indictment in a criminal case against six local residents. They are accused of insurance fraud committed by an organized group, as well as fraud. The case has been transferred to court, according to the press service of the regional prosecutor»s office.

According to the investigation, two residents «systematically created accident situations to cause traffic collisions». Most often, accidents involving them occurred in Vostochny, on a road with a dedicated bus lane.

Recall that in this case, Elena and Marina Khamshilova were detained in November 2024 on suspicion of fraud.

The prosecutor«s office information states that the accused drove at low speed and created a »traffic jam,« while other drivers at that time violated the rules and entered the bus lane.

«After a driver started moving in violation, they performed intentional maneuvers, resulting in a collision of vehicles,» the information says.

The investigation believes that drivers in several cars were involved in such accidents. After the accidents, they received payouts from insurance companies. From the suspects, over 20 cars were seized, with a total value of more than 6 million rubles (about $68,000 at current rates), which had previously been impounded. The accused face up to 10 years in prison with a fine of up to one million rubles (about $11,000 at current rates).

The criminal case consists of 40 volumes and involves 40 episodes. The case will be heard by the Kurgan City Court.
