An unusual post dedicated to a surveillance camera was published by Lakhta Center on its Telegram channel on 23 January. The device is located at a height of 387 meters above sea level.

A surveillance camera atop Lakhta Center provides panoramic views and meteorological data for St. Petersburg.

«Frozen but not giving up, it continues filming to delight us with magnificent panoramas of St. Petersburg,» the message says.

The footage from the high-altitude camera has not only aesthetic value. The data obtained is useful for the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological Center, with which the skyscraper has been cooperating since 2025. Meteorologists observe ice formation in the Gulf of Finland and other weather phenomena in real time.
