Bullfinches have arrived at Vyborg«s Monrepos Park museum-reserve. Although these birds are often associated with winter, they live in the Leningrad Oblast year-round, making only short migrations.
As biologist Pavel Glazkov noted in his Telegram channel «Each Creature a Pair», in summer bullfinches can be found in St. Petersburg«s city parks, where they raise their chicks.
The expert explained that in winter, the presence of these birds is revealed by their recognizable call «Pin«k». Both males and females take part in these calls. With the arrival of spring, the birds form pairs, become extremely cautious, and rarely show themselves.
Earlier in the fall, the publication Fontanka published photographs of bullfinches feeding on plant seeds in Udelninsky Park.
