Blowing Snow Hits Windshields as Drivers Film Tatarstan Blizzard

The road from Alekseyevskoye to Almetyevsk was closed to all types of transport from 3:45 p.m.
«The road is closed. They just closed it, and the traffic police are there,» said motorist Valery Kozlov, who was there at the start of the blizzard.
On the Kazan to Nizhnekamsk highway, blowing snow was already observed at lunchtime.
Another driver, Danis, shared the situation on the Almetyevsk to Naberezhnye Chelny highway, which began to be swept with snow a couple of hours ago.
On the section from Naberezhnye Chelny to Kazan, no snowdrifts are visible.
On the exit from M-7, an accident with a truck has already occurred. The driver advises to be more careful on the section near the TAIF gas station.
On the section of the highway from Naberezhnye Chelny to Sarmanovo, no deterioration in visibility has been observed yet. Only some blowing snow.
In the evening on M-7 near Kazan, a strong blizzard began.
Earlier, Tatarstan residents were warned that the republic would be hit by the same cyclone that came to Moscow the day before. Strong blizzards and black ice are forecast. Climatologist Yury Perevedentsev noted that only on Saturday and Sunday will dry and sunny weather set in.
The Kazan city administration reported that snow removal in the city on these days may take longer than usual. The State Traffic Inspectorate asked drivers to be cautious on the roads and, if possible, refrain from trips in personal vehicles.
