Beglov: Lenfilm Transferred to City Ahead of Schedule

Governor Alexander Beglov announced the early transfer of the Lenfilm studio to the ownership of St. Petersburg. The corresponding order was previously given by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

In a radio address on February 2, the head of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, reported that the Lenfilm studio has been transferred to the city«s jurisdiction.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had previously ordered Rosimushchestvo (the Federal Agency for State Property Management) to transfer Lenfilm«s shares to St. Petersburg by the end of May, but the process was completed ahead of schedule.
Plans for the studio«s transition to city ownership have been discussed since September. At the same time, information emerged about a presidential order signed for the federal agency.
Representatives of Lenfilm stated that a five-year development concept is ready, which includes renovation projects, but the details of the document were not disclosed. Governor Beglov indicated that the studio will produce patriotic films.
The financial situation of the studio remains difficult: according to data from the end of 2025, its debts exceeded 100 million dollars.
