The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Beglov took place on January 26, on the eve of the memorial date of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade.

During the conversation, the governor reported on social support for almost 45,000 veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in the city. This number includes war participants and disabled veterans, residents of besieged Leningrad, home front workers, and former underage prisoners of fascism.

Discussing the city«s development, Beglov listed key infrastructure projects:

  • construction of the Bolshoy Smolensky Bridge with planned traffic opening in 2027;
  • work on the zero stage of the high-speed highway Moscow — St. Petersburg, including an interchange at the entrance and the rerouting of commuter trains to the Volkovskaya station;
  • design of the seaside resort »St. Petersburg Marina« in Gorskaya until 2028, with subsequent construction until 2030;
  • construction of a yacht club on Petrovskaya Spit from 2026 to 2029;
  • launch of the second stage of the Slavyanka tram line in 2026.

Separately, the governor reported on the development of the metro, noting that over the past few years, seven stations have been built in St. Petersburg. According to information from Smolny, the list includes Prospekt Slavy, Dunayskaya, Shushary (opened in 2019), Teatralnaya (without an exit), Gorny Institut, Yugo-Zapadnaya, and Putilovskaya (the latter two began operation at the end of 2025).

Currently, five tunneling shields are operating at metro construction sites, including a new one from the Obukhov Plant, and a sixth will soon be put into operation. Active work is underway on the green line (stations Bogatyrskaya and Kamenka) and on the brown line (stations Bronovaya, Zastavskaya, Borovaya, and Karetnaya).

In the education sector, by 2026 it is planned to commission 76 new facilities: 28 schools, 46 kindergartens, and 2 combined institutions. Of these, 47 facilities will be transferred to the city free of charge by investors. By 2030, the renovation of 30 buildings constructed in Soviet times is expected.

Vladimir Putin inquired about the solution to the issue of nurseries, to which Alexander Beglov replied that the corresponding task had been set.

Speaking about industry, the governor reported on the growth of production volumes, the production of unique products at the Obukhov Plant, the implementation of the national project «Unmanned Aircraft Systems,» and the development of the Special Economic Zone «St. Petersburg,» where 11 new enterprises will open in 2026.

Beglov also reported on social support for participants in the special military operation (for whom 15,000 vacancies are available in the city register) and their families, large families, and elderly people. In the cultural sphere, he mentioned the opening of the Sergei Kurekhin center and the transfer of the Lenfilm studio to city control, where patriotic films are planned to be shot.

«I won»t burden you with difficulties, that«s within our competence,» Beglov concluded. «There are no issues that would require your attention at the moment.»
