A baric ridge extending from the northwest to the southeast will determine the synoptic situation in St. Petersburg on February 4. This will cause cloudy weather with clear spells and light snow in places.

Temperatures in the city will range from -8 to -10°C (18 to 14°F). In the Leningrad Region, temperatures are expected to be -7 to -12°C (19 to 10°F), and in some areas down to -16°C (3°F). The wind will be southwesterly at 1–6 m/s (2–13 mph). Atmospheric pressure will remain at 770 mm Hg (about 1027 hPa), which is above normal.
On the previous day, February 3, the weather in St. Petersburg was also shaped by a baric ridge, but the sky was clear and no precipitation was observed. In Moscow on February 4, the weather picture is similar: a baric ridge stretching from Scandinavia to the Lower Don region will bring partly cloudy and dry weather. The sun will slightly warm the air, but temperatures will remain anomalously low — from -11 to -13°C (12 to 9°F).
