In the coming days, severe frosts are expected in Nizhny Novgorod. Today, thermometers already show -20°C (-4°F), and on the weekend, temperatures will drop even lower. The city«s Department of Housing and Engineering Infrastructure explained how the capital of the Volga region is preparing for the cold snap.
The department noted that the parameters of the heat transfer fluid are adjusted according to a temperature schedule based on outdoor weather. During the cold snap, Nizhny Novgorod«s fuel and energy complex has been switched to a special operating mode.
«The temperature parameters of the heat transfer fluid in the heating system have been increased. Heating supply organizations have strengthened control over the operation of heating networks and equipment,» emphasized the department.
Emergency and repair services are also operating in a state of heightened readiness. Responsible personnel are on duty around the clock.
Additionally, in some parts of Nizhny Novgorod Region, nighttime temperatures may drop to -30…-30°C (-22…-22°F). Due to the severe frosts, the company Avtodor, which owns, among others, the M-12 «Vostok» high-speed highway passing through Nizhny Novgorod Region, has appealed to drivers. Motorists are urged to be more cautious and avoid trips in bad weather. According to meteorologists« forecasts, the cold will retreat by next Tuesday, January 27.
