On 25 January, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) announced the start of a sanitary-epidemiological inspection.
The incident occurred at school No. 575, located in the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg.
To examine possible contacts, a mobile fluorography unit from the City Tuberculosis Dispensary was dispatched to the educational institution.
Rospotrebnadzor specialists are implementing a set of anti-epidemic measures:
  • identification and determination of the circle of contact persons,
  • organization of their medical examination,
  • conducting disinfection in the school premises.
As of now, no additional cases of tuberculosis infection among students and staff have been registered.
The introduction of quarantine at the institution is not planned, as tuberculosis is not on the list of quarantine infections.
Earlier, parents of students sent a complaint to the head of the Safe Internet League, Yekaterina Mizulina. They claimed that a cook at the school cafeteria was diagnosed with an open form of tuberculosis, and the administration attempted to conceal this information. The school principal refused to comment on the situation.
