The daughter and mother of assault soldier Alexander Plekhanov, who died in the special military operation zone, cannot receive multi-million ruble payments in Volgograd due to the cause of death stated in the documents.
A native of Pallasovka, he signed a contract in July 2024 and went to the SMO zone as an assault soldier. In July 2025, he died, and in August was buried with military honors in his hometown.
Since then, the serviceman«s ex-wife has been trying to arrange a survivor»s pension for their underage daughter. According to her, they faced bureaucratic delays at the military commissariat of the Leninsky District: «The child will soon turn 18. Who will compensate us for this past time? Some dark story that gives no peace.»
Representatives of the military commissariats of the Leninsky and Sredneakhtubinsky districts reported that the pension for the deceased«s daughter will be accrued in early March. However, because the death is not related to military service, the payment will be only 40% of the full amount — about 17,000 rubles (approximately $200 at current rates). The insurance payment of about three million rubles (approximately $34,000 at current rates) will be divided between the daughter and mother.
The woman claims that initially, at the military commissariat, she was offered to arrange three payments, including presidential ones, but none of them have been approved so far. Moreover, discrepancies were found in the death documents: some state that Plekhanov died in a hospital, others — in an apartment.
The deceased«s mother appealed with letters to the president and the prosecutor»s office, but only received notifications about the case being considered. The military unit where the assault soldier served refused to provide any information to the relatives.
A similar situation previously occurred with Ernest Khachaturov, whose son died in the SMO zone. The medical certificate indicated death from illness, not from a wound, which significantly reduced the amount of due payments. Khachaturov has been refusing to bury his son for over a year, demanding to find out the true cause of death.
