Arctic power line restoration on track for midweek completion

The current progress of the power line restoration was discussed at a meeting of the operational headquarters.
On 2 February, another support tower was delivered to the work site. Specialists plan to start installing the wire as early as tomorrow.
According to the company Rosseti North-West (the North-Western branch of the Russian grid operator Rosseti), all work, including the replacement of temporary supports with permanent ones, may be completed no earlier than Wednesday.
The switch to the main supports is planned to be carried out without additional power outages, with the transition expected to be seamless for consumers.
Despite positive forecasts, municipalities, emergency services, and repair crews continue to work in a state of high alert.
Recall that parts of Murmansk and Severomorsk were left without power again on 31 January. Governor Andrey Chibis reported on the causes of the repeated accident.
Public transport in Murmansk was switched to a special operating mode, and street lighting was turned off. Schoolchildren in Murmansk had all classes canceled on Saturday. We reported which supermarkets were forced to temporarily close. The Murmansk Sea Trade Port (MMTP) also suspended its work.
The Murmansk Region Prosecutor«s Office has already launched an investigation due to the mass power outages in the region on 23 January, and a criminal case has been initiated. It turned out that the fallen power line supports had been in service for almost 60 years.
