Winter landscapes of the surroundings of the Old Sarepta museum-reserve were captured by photographer Andrei Polyakov. This unique corner of European culture and life in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd lives its own, much richer and more natural life even in winter than the rest of the city. We invite you to admire the photos taken on the last day of the long-awaited thaw, February 2.

The museum-reserve has preserved 28 buildings built back in the times of Tsaritsyn. The colony was founded by the Herrnhuter Brethren — descendants of the Czech or Moravian Brethren, who were hiding from persecution by the Catholic Church. The settlers included people from Germany, Czechia, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. We covered this in detail in our big article.

Few residents of Volgograd have not heard of Old Sarepta, but not everyone has managed to get to the Krasnoarmeysky district to see the historic architectural ensemble in the Saxon Baroque style with their own eyes.
