The Urals will host the regional stage of the International Adaptive Fashion Contest «Na Krylyakh» (On Wings). The project is organized by the «Zashchitniki Otechestva» (Defenders of the Fatherland) foundation. The contest aims to find innovative ideas and technologies in clothing design, as well as to improve its quality.
‘Adaptive fashion is one of the directions that arose in response to the needs of people with special requirements, particularly veterans who sustained severe injuries during the special military operation. Its development is an important step towards creating an environment where every person feels free and confident, can realize themselves in any sphere,’ stated Artem Zhoga, the presidential envoy to the Ural Federal District.
Contestants will develop practical and aesthetic clothing models for various life situations. When creating collections, designers will focus on the needs of people with disabilities, considering their activity, adaptive sports, and the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia.
‘The ‘Na Krylyakh’ contest is part of the comprehensive work of the «Zashchitniki Otechestva» foundation to support veterans of the SVO with disabilities. By developing the adaptive fashion industry, creating comfortable, functional, and stylish clothing, we give them the opportunity to feel confidence in themselves and their own abilities. This directly contributes to successful resocialization and return to active life,’ noted Anna Tsivileva, chair of the foundation, state secretary – deputy minister of defense of the Russian Federation.
The contest includes six main categories:
- ‘We Are Family’
- ‘Sports and Active Life’
- ‘Everyday Comfort’
- ‘From Work Day to Active Affairs’
- ‘Celebration’
- ‘With Care During Recovery’
The acceptance of contest applications will last until February 28. The results of the regional stage will be announced in April at the interregional competitions ‘Kubok Zashchitnikov Otechestva’ (Defenders of the Fatherland Cup), which will take place in Yekaterinburg.
