Activist Sergey Ostrovsky has announced approximate dates for the relocation of the Main Post Office«s round hall, which was previously slated for sale to private owners. According to him, both floors of the branch must be vacated by the end of February 2026.

Recall that information about the possible sale of the post office premises was also reported by Ostrovsky at the end of December 2025: he feared the hall at 6 Mira Street could be turned into a restaurant or liquor store. Russia«s Post Office responded at the time that the building was indeed being prepared for auction but did not specify the reasons.

Now, Sergey Ostrovsky, citing employees, claims the second floor may allegedly be occupied by the Volgograd Regional Office of Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media).

“They were told to prepare for eviction from the round hall, supposedly by the end of February. They complain they don«t understand how to manage the workflow now. And they are vacating the second floor, which has been bought by Roskomnadzor,” Ostrovsky said.

However, the supervisory agency itself has denied the information about the move.

“We are staying put for now; I have not received such information,” was the response from the office of the department head.

The information was also questioned by the press service of Russia«s Post Office, although they promised to clarify the truthfulness of the statements later.

The V1.RU editorial office has sent official requests to both agencies asking them to comment on the reliability of the rumors.
