Yekaterinburg court closes firm linked to coffee shop poisonings
The Railway District Court of Yekaterinburg, at the request of sanitary inspectors, has halted the operations of the firm Dessertkom+. This company was the supplier for DUO coffee shops, where a mass poisoning of customers recently occurred. Dessertkom+ will be unable to operate for 90 days.
«An epidemiological investigation was conducted, and the production workshop of the enterprise, located in Vyyezdnoy Lane, which supplies components for coffee shop production, was inspected,» clarified the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.
During the inspection, specialists from Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) found numerous violations of sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Specifically:
- the workshop did not maintain the flow of technological processes;
- employees entered the cloakroom in outerwear and shoes through a corridor where a storage area was equipped, and at the time of inspection, raw components, ready-to-eat food products, and packaging materials were stored on open shelves;
- food products in storage were not accompanied by information on storage conditions and expiration dates;
- the enterprise did not conduct daily inspections of workers involved in food production and workers directly in contact with food products for the presence of pustular skin diseases on hands and open body surfaces, or signs of infectious diseases;
- people were allowed to work who had not undergone preliminary and periodic medical examinations, professional hygienic training and certification, and vaccination in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Recall that customers of DUO in Yekaterinburg began mass complaints about poisonings in mid-January. Residents reported that after visiting the establishment they felt unwell: severe vomiting, weakness, chills. Sanitary inspectors began checking the coffee shops: two workers were found to have Staphylococcus aureus.
