In the Northwest of Chelyabinsk, after operating for almost 10 years, the famous family restaurant «Oliver» has closed. The second branch of the chain, according to the owner, will stop accepting guests by the beginning of spring due to lease issues. The first «Oliver» promises to return, but what will appear instead of «Oliver in Kosmos» on Lesoparkovaya remains a mystery.

Despite the closures, the proprietors maintain an optimistic outlook for their future ventures.

«Oliver» on Krasnopolsky Prospect opened in spring 2016. It was positioned as a family restaurant with a children«s room, kids» menu, and straightforward dishes of European and Italian cuisine. Several years later, in late 2020, «Oliver in Kosmos» on Lesoparkovaya started operating. The closure of both establishments became known almost simultaneously.

For five years, the restaurant operated in conjunction with a nearby hotel as part of a unified concept.

LLC «Oliver» was registered in Chelyabinsk in 2015, its sole owner is entrepreneur Vladimir Kozhevnikov, who together with his wife Ksenia developed the restaurant holding 48 GROUP (besides «Oliver», it includes Joy Cafe and «Shakh i Myata», which changed owners in 2025). The company«s director is Victoria Dilman. The official revenue of »Oliver« in 2024 was 54.8 million rubles (about $548,000 at current rates), net loss — 8.8 million rubles (about $88,000). In the existing since 2018 LLC »Oliver-Kosmos«, Vladimir Kozhevnikov is listed as the only employee (he is also the owner and general director), turnover is zero, loss for 2024 — 26 thousand rubles (about $260).

«Oliver» in Parkovy stopped working on January 15. Ksenia Kozhevnikova explained on social media that it is closed for reconstruction, but has not yet shared details.

Judging by the message on the «Oliver» website, nothing fundamentally new will appear on Krasnopolsky Prospect.

«After the reconstruction is completed, we will again be glad to see you in our restaurant, to enjoy the most delicious dishes and pleasant atmosphere,» it says.

However, even a simple update could benefit the restaurant: in recent months, some visitors on 2GIS and Yandex.Maps noted poor condition of furniture and equipment in the children«s room, rude service, and changed taste of dishes.

«Actually, the empty hall says it all,» writes one of them. «Earlier, at the end of December, finding a free seat in »Oliver« was unreal. Very sorry, because I remember it from the very opening.»

Restaurant expert Azat Saparmamedov is confident that on Krasnopolsky Prospect, «Oliver» has no competition, and after a small repair, the establishment can successfully continue its work.

«In Parkovy, there are practically no family restaurants, and restaurants in general,» noted the blogger. «And in January–February, there is a downturn in the market, it»s logical to close for repairs at this time, and after the start of the season to work further.

As for «Oliver» on Lesoparkovaya, it will work until February 28. Ksenia Kozhevnikova explained that the restaurant failed to extend the lease agreement.

«We were in negotiations for a long time, the process turned out, unfortunately, more complicated than we thought, and it was not possible to come to any decision. The process is still ongoing, when it is completed, I will be able to give more details,» she said. «The last two months, which were really not easy, made me think that every project has its life cycle. Sometimes it»s really important to stop, put a period and let go, give space for something new, as banal as it may sound.«

What will open instead of «Oliver in Kosmos» remains a mystery. The restaurant«s kitchen was responsible for catering at the operating hotel of the Ibis Styles chain and the Hwoya spa complex, and Ksenia Kozhevnikova has not yet clarified the fate of »Oliver Fit« in the terms.

«I will be able to give details in a couple of days,» she told a correspondent of 74.RU.

Hotel representatives in response to our request promised to provide information by the end of January.

The legal entity of the Chelyabinsk Ibis Styles is LLC «Mi-Alliance», the company was registered in 2016, 54% belongs to co-owner of «Atlantida-SPA» Ilya Bykov, 26% — to Igor Anisimov, 10% each — to Mikhail Timoshenko and Ekaterina Denisenko. The official revenue of the company for 2024 — 144.7 million rubles (about $1,447,000), net profit — 45.3 million rubles (about $453,000). The main owner of LLC «Termopolis» (Hwoya) — Ilya Bykov (54%), 36% of the company — in the hands of Ekaterina Denisenko, 10% belongs to Mikhail Timoshenko. Official revenue in 2024 was 15.1 million rubles (about $151,000), net profit — 4.9 million rubles (about $49,000).
