Following a series of poisonings, Rospotrebnadzor inspected DUO coffee shops in Yekaterinburg. As of now, seven cases of acute intestinal infections have been registered among citizens who visited these establishments. Final conclusions about the source of infection have not yet been made, as the analyses are still being processed.
During the inspection of seven coffee shops and their suppliers, specialists discovered numerous violations. Among them:
  • non-compliance with rules for labeling and storing products;
  • violations of disinfection regimes;
  • lack of documents confirming the implementation of the HACCP system.
One of the suppliers, LLC «Desertkom+», has been found to have serious problems:
  • non-compliance of the layout and condition of production premises with sanitary norms;
  • unsatisfactory sanitary condition of the workshop, including dirt and mold;
  • lack of production control and documents for the HACCP system;
  • violations in the production, storage, labeling, and disposal of food products;
  • lack of documents ensuring product traceability;
  • allowing employees to work without undergoing mandatory medical examinations.
The activities of the second supplier, LLC «Parogroup», are also currently being inspected. Both companies have suspended operations.
Laboratory tests showed that Staphylococcus aureus was detected in two coffee shop employees. Additionally, coliform bacteria (BGKP) were found in the foam for coffee drinks. The investigation is ongoing.
Recall that on January 19, the coffee shop in the «Bolshoy» department store was visited by medics and subsequently closed. Mass complaints about poisoning after visiting DUO establishments began in mid-January. Victims reported symptoms such as severe vomiting, weakness, and chills.
Many customers left reviews with detailed descriptions of their condition.
