Superstar Jury Criticizes Vlad Stashevsky

The sixth season of the music project «Superstar» premiered on NTV on January 31. As part of the show, popular performers from past years present updated versions of their hits.

The very first episode identified the main underdog — it was Vlad Stashevsky. For the singer, this is not the first such experience: in one of the past seasons, he already found himself in last place in the ratings.

Stashevsky performed his hit «Love No Longer Lives Here» in a dance arrangement. This approach caused bewilderment among the jury members.

Sergey Sosedov commented: «I think you»ve outgrown this song, it«s all in the past. Yes, it»s not bad, but we«re in a competition... You will still conquer us, bring us to tears.»

The artist himself explained that he wanted to experiment with the composition that fans have loved for three decades, and simply lift the audience«s mood.

Lera Kudryavtseva also did not support the performer: «All the girls suffered to this song. But with this arrangement... The song is sad. It»s about having no friends or enemies. And here it«s dancing, like everything»s cool. The song should evoke sympathy, but here it«s just a disco. What»s what?«

Stas Piekha joined the criticism, calling the performance «incessant suffering» and admitting that he quickly got tired of the song.

As a result, the jury gave Stashevsky only three points — the minimum score, which no other participant received.

The show«s hosts hinted to the singer that to keep his place in the project, he needs to prepare more thoroughly for his next performance.

Viewers, however, expressed support for the artist. Fan Yulia Vladimirova stated: «They pecked poor Vladik to death, which is quite expected. Of course, his songs aren»t that deep, but the fact that he«s outgrown them is natural, why focus on that? Everyone sang from their own repertoire.»

Marina Katina added: «Well, how was Stashevsky supposed to sing a song with a light, danceable tune? That»s it! They found a scapegoat.«

Ira Gusakova noted: «Stashevsky objectively has the most absurd arrangement. Moreover, for the second year in a row, they ruin the presentation of his own song.»
