‘Still better than a small screen’: Readers review ‘Avatar 3’ cinema quality
Residents of Chelyabinsk shared their impressions of watching the blockbuster «Avatar: The Flame and Ash» (16+) in comments on 74.RU publications, on map services, and on social networks. Many of our readers enjoyed the film, while others were disappointed with the picture and sound quality. Distributors assure that they screen quality copies and that «screen recordings» are not an issue.
«The color reproduction is as far as possible from what Cameron filmed,» declared one of our subscribers. «The sound is very quiet, without bass; while eating popcorn, I had to listen closely to the dialogues, and where loud bass from explosions and shooting was expected, it sounded like from a home TV. I regretted going; for 900 rubles (about $9 at current rates) they sell a ticket for movie quality of a pirated version.»
«The quality is terrible, the picture isn»t bright, the sound also leaves much to be desired,« asserts Valeria.
«All the beauty of the film was spoiled,» writes Milana in 2GIS.
Representatives of the «Soft Cinemas» network in response to viewers« complaints, including from Chelyabinsk, stated:
«We are confident in the quality of what we show. We know how and where the copy was purchased. We never show you screen recordings.»
We attempted to get a comment on the quality of the copy from the owner of Chelyabinsk«s »Soft Cinemas« Alexander Odolsky, but he did not respond to messages and calls from the 74.RU correspondent.
Incidentally, the blockbuster made for screening in IMAX-3D theaters is shown only in 2D in Russia. But a significant portion of our readers were satisfied with the viewing, at least with the film«s visuals, even despite ticket prices.
«I went twice, it»s great, but it«s a pity that it»s not in 3D; there«s such great graphics and animation, but you watch it like a regular film and for 1000 rubles (about $10 at current rates),» says Diana.
«The quality is normal, yes, you can see that the picture isn»t vibrant, it falls short, but it«s still better than watching on a small screen,» believes Alexander.
«I liked everything, both the bright picture and the good sound. We waited for this part for three years. If rental prices drop, we»ll go again,« adds Evgenia.
«The quality of sound and picture is excellent,» summarizes Sergey from Chelyabinsk in the «Soft Cinemas» group. «Just the film itself is so-so.»
