Night skiing event draws thousands to Mount Uktus

On January 30, residents of Yekaterinburg made their way to Mount Uktus to hold a traditional mass skiing event. Snowboarders and skiers armed themselves with flashlights, donned bright costumes, and descended together.

According to organizers, nearly 2,150 people took part in the event. The athletes descended from the mountain over the course of ten minutes.

Many of them prepared thoroughly for the ride: there were sharks, jellyfish, and even players from the «Avtomobilist» hockey team.

See how spectacularly the descent went in complete darkness.

How athletes descended the mountain in the middle of the night last year, we told in this article.

Earlier we published a selection of places in Yekaterinburg where you can go skiing, and told how much rental costs there.
Read our article and watch the video on how to learn to snowboard in half an hour. We also published a reminder on how not to injure anyone on the slope. Another winter fun is snowkiting, in which you need to fly with a parachute on a snowboard.
