Happiness Over Fame: Ufa Singer's Path After Factory of Stars
UFA1.RU continues to profile artists from the republic who gained nationwide fame. This time, it«s about singer Yekaterina Tsypina, who celebrates her birthday in November and was predicted to have a great future after participating in the show »Factory of Stars«, but she somehow disappeared from the radar.
Yekaterina was born in Ufa in 1986. As a child, she had no musical education, so she surprised her entire family when, at the age of 21, she applied for the show «Factory of Stars». However, according to her relatives, Katya had always amazed everyone with her independence and ability to achieve her goals without fuss.
«Factory of Stars» in the 2000s was considered one of the main music programs on Russian television. Participants were brought together and, in a reality show format, prepared concert programs, while organizers selected the most outstanding ones to continue their careers. Before this, Yekaterina had never sung on a big stage and worked as a manager at a car dealership, while also studying at the Academy of Service in the tourism faculty.
On «Factory of Stars», the Ufa native caught the attention of Konstantin Meladze — a composer, one of the most influential producers on the domestic stage, who was already known nationwide for songs, including those by his equally famous brother Valery and «VIA Gra».
Meladze was then promoting another «Factory of Stars» participant — the group «Bis», for whose music video they took Katya. The song, by the way, was named after her, and surely a good portion of people can sing along: «Katya, pick up the phone,» which in the 2000s rang from every third mobile phone. Also, in the industry, it was hotly discussed that Katya might fill the spot in «VIA Gra», which was supposedly opening up with the departure of one of the trio«s members.
Meladze did have plans for Katya, but somewhat different ones. Together with her and another «Factory» participant Natalia Tumsevich, the producer intended to create a new female music group. However, this idea was not meant to be. The Ufa native unexpectedly left the music industry, to the surprise of her fans.
In 2017, Tsypina married businessman Vladimir Efimenko, and a year later, she gave birth to a daughter. Now, Yekaterina is focused on her family and also runs a blog where she discusses the principles of so-called wellness. This term refers to a lifestyle approach aimed, as its proponents claim, at the optimal combination of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Tsypina uses her own example to explain rules for body care and stress reduction. Moreover, judging by photos from social networks, she travels a lot and goes running. For instance, this November she visited Spain.
“Some people need luxury hotels, and that«s okay, I sometimes like that too. But if we»re talking about where I truly feel alive, it«s in nature,” Katya explained.
According to the Ufa native, as a child, she rarely went on long hikes with her parents, but regularly went with her family to the countryside, where she wandered through fields and forests with loved ones. Now, as Katya says, she and her husband try to create similar impressions and memories for their daughter.
