Figure Skating Stars Hold Show in Yekaterinburg

A figure skating gala show featuring world stars took place at Square 1905 in Yekaterinburg. The central figures of the program were Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin and world champion Evgenia Medvedeva.

They were joined on the ice by other famous athletes: Olympic medalists, and champions of Russia, Europe, and the world. Among the participants were Sofia Samodurova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Morisi Kvitelashvili, Alexander Enbert, and Anna Pogorilaya.

The program included solo and joint numbers. Medvedeva performed her routine to the song «The Earth Spins Faster,» while Yagudin skated to «Island of Misfortune.» Their performance concluded with a joint dance to the foreign composition «Happy New Year.»

Addressing the audience, Alexei Yagudin said: «Forget about gadgets! Please communicate, do sports. Especially since there are such open venues! And I want to congratulate you on all the holidays that have already arrived.»

Not all who wanted to could attend the show, as tickets were distributed exclusively through a contest. Some spectators watched the performance from behind the glass fencing around the rink.

The ice show was originally scheduled for December 12 but had to be postponed by a month and a half due to abnormally warm winter weather.
