Residents of Chelyabinsk are actively commenting on watching the film «Avatar: The Flame and Ashes» (16+) in city cinemas. Reactions range from complete delight to disappointment with the technical quality of the screening.
One viewer stated: «The color reproduction is as far as possible from what Cameron filmed. The sound is very quiet, without bass; while eating popcorn, one had to listen closely to the dialogues, and where loud bass from explosions and gunfire was expected, it sounded like from a home TV. I regretted going; for 900 rubles (approximately $10 at current rates) they sell a ticket for a movie of pirated version quality.»
«The quality is terrible, the picture is not bright, the sound also leaves much to be desired,» asserts Valeria. «The entire beauty of the film was spoiled,» added Milana in a review on the platform 2GIS.
In response to the stream of complaints, representatives of the «Soft Cinemas» network stated: «We are confident in the quality of what we show. We know how and where the copy was purchased. We never show you cam rips.»
The owner of the Chelyabinsk branches of this network, Alexander Odolsky, did not respond to requests for comment on the quality of the copies.
It is worth noting that the film, originally created for demonstration in IMAX-3D format, is shown exclusively in 2D in Russia.
Nevertheless, many viewers were satisfied. «I went twice, it»s cool, but it«s a pity that it»s not in 3D; there«s such cool graphics and animation, but you watch it like a regular film and for 1000 rubles (approximately $11 at current rates),» shared Diana.
«The quality is normal, yes, it»s visible that the picture is not vibrant, it falls short, but it«s still better than watching on a small screen,» believes Alexander.
Yevgenia added: «Everything was liked, both the picture is bright and the sound is good. We»ve been waiting for this part«s release for three years. If rental prices drop, we»ll go again.«
Sergei from Chelyabinsk summed up: «The sound and picture quality are excellent. It»s just that the film itself is so-so.«
The premiere of the third part of James Cameron«s saga in Chelyabinsk cinemas took place on January 15. Ticket prices for screenings reach 1000 rubles (approximately $11 at current rates) and above.
