Tyumen cancels in-person classes for grades 1-9

The administration of Tyumen has announced the cancellation of in-person classes for students in grades 1-9 of the first shift. A corresponding notice has been posted on the official website of the city administration.

«Attention parents and students of educational institutions! Today, due to low outdoor air temperature, in-person classes for the first shift in the schools of Tyumen for students in grades 1-9 are canceled,» the authorities stated.

The decisions regarding «актированные дни» (officially declared non-working school days due to weather) have drawn complaints from public figure Yekaterina Mizulina. According to her, not only schoolchildren but also teachers are asking her to intervene.

The criteria for canceling classes due to frost remain a subject of debate. Previously, the administration explained that the decision-making algorithm provides for canceling lessons only for younger students, while older pupils are expected to attend school.
