In Kurgan, a medical faculty will be opened in the former building of School No. 52 in the Zaozerny district. Governor Vadim Shumkov announced this on his social media. The institution will be established jointly with the Russian University of Medicine under the Russian Ministry of Health.

«The facility needs to be renovated and brought up to code for the comprehensive training of doctors here in Kurgan,» the governor wrote, adding that 150 million rubles (approximately $1.5 million at current rates) have been allocated for the major renovation. The work is set to take place this year.

The former School No. 52 building on Alexeyev Street in the first microdistrict of Zaozerny was vacated in September 2024 after a new school opened on Farafonov Street. City authorities then transferred the building to regional ownership.
