Yakutia Businessman Faces Trial for Bribing Ex-Deputy Semyon Filippov

The director of a company operating in road construction and maintenance will be tried for giving a large bribe. He sought patronage for 200,000 rubles (approximately $2,000 at current rates). This was reported on January 28 in the Telegram channel of the Yakutia Investigative Committee.
A source told 14.RU that the accused transferred the money in February 2022 to the head of the Republic«s Road Department and deputy of Il Tumen (the State Assembly of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)) Semyon Filippov.
Law enforcement officers detained Semyon Filippov on April 28, 2024. He was charged with five counts under the article «Receiving bribes on a large and especially large scale.» Later, his 45-year-old daughter Yana was detained on suspicion of complicity. We told his story here. In 2025, Filippov was stripped of his mandate at the prosecutor«s office»s request.
The money was not handed over personally by the businessman but through intermediaries. Investigators conducted a full range of investigative actions to gather evidence. The entrepreneur«s property and funds were seized for nearly 16 million rubles (approximately $160,000 at current rates), and he faces a fine of up to 3 million rubles (approximately $30,000) or imprisonment of up to 12 years.
