In Murmansk Oblast, two residents of St. Petersburg were detained — they are suspected of selling synthetic drugs on a particularly large scale.

Police officers stopped a Citroën near the entrance to Monchegorsk. Under the back seat, they found six polymer bags with powder. Examination confirmed that it was the synthetic drug alpha-PVP (alpha-pyrrolidinovalerophenone) with a mass of about 4 kilograms.

The suspects — residents of St. Petersburg aged 32 and 42. They had rented a car and planned to distribute the drugs in the Arctic region. A criminal case has been initiated on grounds of a crime provided for by part 3 of article 30 and part 5 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Attempted illegal sale on a particularly large scale». The men were arrested.

Earlier, a resident of Murmansk was caught with a large batch of drugs: he now faces a lengthy prison term.
