Two foreigners kidnap, beat man over wife's infidelity
In Nizhny Novgorod, two foreigners are to be tried for unlawfully depriving an acquaintance of his liberty. The men are charged with a crime committed by prior conspiracy with violence and using a weapon. The suspects are currently in custody, the regional Investigative Committee reported.
According to investigators, in September 2025 the accused forced a man to get into a car on Novaya Street and locked the doors. Then, while threatening him with a weapon, they drove the victim to the Grebny Canal embankment.
There, one of the suspects started shooting in the man«s direction, while the other beat the victim. The man lost consciousness in the car. He regained consciousness in the historical part of the city, where the attackers left him. A forensic medical examination showed that he suffered moderate bodily harm.
As a source in law enforcement told NN.RU, the two attackers are natives of Azerbaijan. The men resorted to this act because the wife of one of them had started an affair with the victim.
The Investigative Committee said that the investigation has gathered sufficient evidence. The case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits. The Azerbaijani men face three to five years in prison.
Earlier, law enforcement reported that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod was found guilty of fraud: according to the court, he fraudulently stole more than 11 million rubles (about $122,200 at current rates). The man was sentenced to five years in a general-regime penal colony.
