Shootout on Rublyovka: One Kidnapper Killed

In Moscow on 3 February, a shootout broke out on Rublyovka between police and kidnappers. The two criminals had previously abducted a 39-year-old man from Penza on 29 January, according to the Russian Investigative Committee.
The kidnappers were found in the entrance of a residential building. During the arrest, they opened fire, resisting, so police returned fire. One of the attackers was killed in the shootout.
«As a result, the suspect who opened fire suffered a fatal wound. The second suspect has been detained, and the issue of his transfer to investigative authorities in the Penza region for further investigative actions is being decided,» the Investigative Committee said. «Investigators and forensic experts from the Moscow investigative department have examined the scene, and a series of forensic examinations will be ordered shortly.»
A criminal case has been opened under the article «Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer» (Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code). The kidnappers are also suspected in other episodes and of committing crimes elsewhere in Russia.
According to Telegram channel 112, they had previously been put on the wanted list. One of the kidnappers had even been convicted of double murder. The reasons for the abduction of the killed hostage and other details are still unknown.
