A resident of the Kinel-Cherkassky district was convicted for an extremist comment on a social network. The comment, posted under a news item about a murder in Samara, cost her a suspended sentence and serious restrictions.
The 34-year-old woman posted a comment from her VKontakte page under a post about the murder of a young woman in Samara. The text drew the attention of law enforcement agencies.
A forensic examination showed that the message contained calls to commit crimes based on national hatred. This falls under the article on public calls for extremist activity.
In court, the defendant fully admitted guilt and repented of her actions. Taking this and other mitigating circumstances into account, the court sentenced her to two years of imprisonment, suspended.
However, the court also imposed serious restrictions. The woman was banned from engaging in activities related to the administration of websites and online channels for the entire probation period.
She was also ordered to pay the state a sum equal to the cost of the mobile phone from which she had published the comment. The phone had been lost by the time of the trial.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed in the established manner.
