Rapist in Tyumen signs military contract while restricted from travel

A woman from Tyumen is striving to secure punishment for her daughter«s attackers and have the rapists imprisoned. Several years ago, high school students assaulted a girl in an apartment building entrance. The entire incident was recorded on video, and they later blackmailed her with the footage. The participants in the case failed to appear in court under various pretexts, leading to postponed hearings. Only in November was a verdict first announced for one of them — five years in a penal colony.

However, the man whom the girl«s mother considers the »instigator of the rape« suddenly left to join the Special Military Operation. She learned about this during a hearing from his own lawyer. The Tyumen woman filed complaints to check the legality of his contract with the Ministry of Defense. But the Military Prosecutor»s Office found no violations.

It turned out that although a criminal charge for rape is considered a valid reason to deny contract service, this was not the case here.

«It has been established that on 22 October 2025, [the name of the person involved] applied to the POVSK with a request to consider his candidacy for voluntary enlistment for contract service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Based on the review, and considering the absence of a criminal record or medical contraindications as of the date of application, a contract for military service was concluded with him on 24 October 2025,» the agency«s official response stated.

It is known that the person involved in the case went to Voronezh to sign the contract with the Ministry of Defense.

The lawyer for the Tyumen woman, whose daughter was raped, explained the possible reasons for this and what she plans to do next.

«One of the defendants took advantage of being released from custody with a pledge not to leave. He was supposed to report to the investigator and appear in court. For the recent court hearings, he practically did not appear, using the pretext of being sick. Apparently, realizing that the outcome might be unfavorable, he decided to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, omitting the fact that court proceedings are ongoing against him. And since he has not actually been convicted of rape yet, he managed to sign the contract,» journalist from 72.RU was told by lawyer Lyubov Safargaliyeva.

According to the defender, she is now waiting for responses from other authorities to proceed further.

«For now, we are dealing with the second participant in the case: the young man sentenced to five years did not agree with the verdict and filed an appeal,» the lawyer noted.

Recall that in 2023, even Alexander Bastrykin was monitoring the investigation of this case. The school principal resigned from his position after the incident.
