In Novomoskovsk, police have uncovered a series of jewelry thefts from the order pickup points of a major online marketplace.

Representatives of the pickup points contacted the duty office and reported that from November to December 2025, the disappearance of gold jewelry was discovered at several locations. The total damage exceeded 130,000 rubles (about $2,200 at current rates).

Operatives studied CCTV footage and established the identity of the suspected perpetrator. He turned out to be a 39-year-old resident of the town of Uzlovaya, with a prior criminal record.

According to police, the man acted according to one scheme: he ordered expensive jewelry, came to the pickup point to inspect it and, taking advantage of the inattention of the staff, stealthily swapped the real jewelry for pre-prepared copies. After that, he would formalize a refusal to purchase.

The suspect confessed to selling the stolen items and spending the money on personal needs. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
