In the Samara region, a verdict was handed down in a case about the trade of «bootleg» alcohol. A businessman from the rural settlement of Voskresenka was sent to a colony.

«In 2023, the man, being the owner of dacha grocery stores, sold alcohol-containing products that did not meet GOST standards and sanitary rules. The drinks contained methyl alcohol hundreds of times above the permissible norm,» the regional prosecutor«s office said.

Three people died from consuming uncertified alcohol. Two more suffered health damage of varying severity.

A case was opened against the store owner for selling products that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the negligent death of two or more persons. The court sentenced the man to three years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony.
