In the Trans-Urals, investigators have opened a criminal case for exceeding official powers in the investigation of a traffic accident that killed Chelyabinsk resident Dmitry Popov. His father, Anatoly Popov, who earlier spoke about the crash to a 45.RU journalist, managed to achieve this.

According to Anatoly, violations were committed and various inconsistencies were found during the investigation of the accident that killed his son. He contacted the reception of the Investigative Committee, and in November 2025 an audit of his complaint about the investigation of the crash began.

Anatoly also posted the same complaint on social media and sent it to the 45.RU editorial office. On December 2, 2025, we wrote about the circumstances of this accident. On February 3, NTV«s »ChP« program aired a report about the father trying to prove his deceased son»s innocence.

The information from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kurgan Oblast about the initiation of the criminal case also states that Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional agency, Sergey Stepanov, to submit a report on the progress of the investigation and on the arguments of the program.
