Investigative Committee Checks After Child Injured by Firecracker

12-year-old boy injured by pyrotechnic item in Stavropol
An ordinary day in Stavropol ended in the hospital for a schoolboy. On the afternoon of January 26, on 50 Let VLKSM Street, a 12-year-old boy found a pyrotechnic item, mistaking it for a toy, and took it home. Back in the apartment, the child accidentally triggered the firecracker.
As a result of the explosion, the boy sustained abrasions to his face and hands. Medical assistance was provided promptly, and there is no threat to his life or health.
After the incident, investigators from the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC) launched an inspection. At the direction of the acting head of the Investigative Department of the IC for the Stavropol Territory, Oleg Sidorov, all circumstances of the incident will be established.
The Investigative Committee reminded:
children are strictly forbidden to pick up unknown objects, and adults should not allow minors to come into contact with pyrotechnics, even if it seems used or safe. Such finds can lead to serious injuries and much more severe consequences.
