In Izhevsk, nine defendants in a dental fraud case have been remanded in custody. The criminals defrauded patients of over 4 million rubles (approximately $44,400 at current rates), according to the joint press service of the courts of Udmurtia.
Recall that this involves the private dental clinic chain LLC «Dent-Line». Its owners, two brothers, assembled a team of like-minded individuals and together deceived clinic clients by imposing expensive treatment and unnecessary procedures. If a patient lacked money, they persuaded them to take out a loan.
The total amount of damage amounted to over 4 million rubles (approximately $44,400 at current rates). More than 10 people were detained in the case. The defendants included residents of Izhevsk, Barnaul, Moscow, and Naberezhnye Chelny, including a dental surgeon, an orthopedic dentist, and a therapeutic dentist. They are accused of large-scale fraud committed by an organized group (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code).
By the decision of the Industrial District Court, nine criminals will remain in custody until March 27, 2026. Another defendant will be under house arrest for two months. Additionally, the court extended the arrest of two individuals involved in this case, who were transferred from Barnaul to Izhevsk for investigative actions.
