Foreigners Abduct Nizhny Novgorod Man Over Infidelity

In Nizhny Novgorod, two foreign nationals will be tried for illegally detaining an acquaintance. The men have been charged with committing a crime by prior conspiracy involving violence and the use of weapons. They are currently held in a pre-trial detention center.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred in September 2025. On Novaya Street, the accused forced the man into a car, locked the doors, and under threat of a weapon drove him to the embankment of the Grebnoi Canal.

At the scene, one of the attackers began shooting in the direction of the victim, while the other beat him. In the car«s cabin, the man lost consciousness. He came to in the historic part of the city, where the perpetrators had left him.

A forensic medical examination established that the victim suffered moderate bodily harm. According to a source in law enforcement, the attackers are two natives of Azerbaijan. The motive for the crime was the infidelity of one of their wives, who had started an affair with the victim.

The investigation says a sufficient body of evidence has been gathered, and the criminal case has been sent to court for substantive consideration. The defendants face a sentence of three to five years in prison.
