FEFU professor sent to pretrial detention for marijuana sale

A professor at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) has been taken into custody in a case of attempted illegal sale of narcotics on a large scale (part 3 of article 30, paragraph «b» of part 3 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the joint press service of the Primorsky Krai judicial system.

According to investigators, on January 22, the woman attempted to sell 7.76 grams (approximately 0.27 ounces) of marijuana but was detained by police officers, who seized the drugs during an inspection.

A criminal case was opened against her, and the investigator requested the professor be placed in custody. The Sovetsky District Court granted the motion, and the accused will spend the next two months in a pretrial detention center.

If her guilt is proven, she faces up to 11 years in prison because the crime was not carried through to completion.

On January 20, we reported that police officers in Vladivostok organized an entire criminal scheme to profit from drugs. Two suspects and their accomplices have been detained, the Primorsky Krai prosecutor«s office press service reported.
