In Nizhny Novgorod, a criminal case has been opened regarding the organization of illegal migration. Investigators found that the suspects submitted forged documents for a thousand foreigners to immigration services so they could remain in Russia.

According to the investigation, in 2025, several residents of the region sent fake papers to prevent the cancellation of patents for foreign workers. The accused aimed to use this workforce on a construction site for commercial purposes. The construction company involved in the scheme belongs to one of the suspects.

In this case, four suspects have been detained. All of them have been placed in a pre-trial detention center. Currently, measures are continuing to collect and secure evidence.

The regional Investigative Committee published a video of the detention. The footage indicates that the events are linked to the construction of the residential complex «Dom na Mayakovskogo» in Dzerzhinsk.

Details have also emerged linking the case to Dzerzhinsk City Duma deputy Yevgeny Monakhov. After meeting with representatives of law enforcement agencies, he did not attend a session, and his assistant did not answer phone calls.
