The Kireyevsky District Court of Tula Oblast has extended the preventive measure for a woman accused of a series of frauds involving millions of rubles. The investigation insists that if she remains free, she could continue criminal activities and influence the victims.

An investigator from the Investigative Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kireyevsky District filed a motion with the court to extend the house arrest. According to the investigation, on December 17, 2025, the woman was charged with 21 episodes at once: 19 crimes under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud causing significant damage to a citizen) and another 2 under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on a large scale).

Previously, on December 8, 2025, the court had already imposed a preventive measure of house arrest for 1 month and 24 days — until February 1, 2026. Now this term has been extended.

According to the investigation, from August 2022 to November 2025, the accused committed fraud against 53 people in Tula Oblast. The total damage caused is estimated at 9,788,550 rubles (approximately $130,500 at current rates).

The investigation believes that there are no grounds for a milder preventive measure. The case materials indicate that the woman is accused of a number of crimes, including serious ones, and if free, she could pressure the victims and witnesses or otherwise hinder the investigation.

After studying the presented materials, data on the accused«s personality, and the severity of the alleged acts, the court concluded that the investigation»s arguments were justified. By a judge«s ruling on January 26, 2026, the house arrest term was extended by 2 months — totaling 3 months and 24 days, that is, until April 1, 2026.

Recall that earlier the police of Tula Oblast were identifying victims in this case.
